Elon Musk indicates he’s ‘going all in’ on financing the GOP ahead of the midterms: ‘America is toast if the radical left wins’

Following his abrupt break with President Donald Trump last year, Elon Musk launched a scathing attack on the Republican Party, calling it a corrupt force that is “ruining” the United States.

But now, after months of political marginalization, the tech mogul, known for his unpredictable nature, has indicated that he will once again dedicate his vast fortune to funding Republican campaigns, this time with an eye toward the 2026 midterm elections.

“America is in danger if the radical left wins,” Musk said Thursday. “They will open the floodgates to illegal immigration and fraud. America will never be the same again.”

In his post, Musk quoted, and appeared to endorse, another post by a conservative influencer who claimed that Musk was “going all in” on funding Republicans this year.

This echoes reports from December that Musk had begun making “massive donations” to Republican members of Congress after a reconciliation dinner with Vice President J.D. Vance.

This is entirely separate from Musk’s promise last July to inject his billions into the new “Party of America,” intended to break what he described as a bipartisan consensus in favor of public borrowing.

In August, the Wall Street Journal reported that Vance had persuaded Musk to abandon his plan to involve a third party, which led him to cancel a scheduled phone call with political experts.

On Monday, the Washington Post published new details about Vance’s discreet efforts over several months to mend relations between Trump and Musk, though this reconciliation remains fragile.

Elon Musk, currently the world’s richest man with an estimated fortune of $726 billion, has donated over $290 million to support Donald Trump and other Republican candidates in the 2024 presidential election.

However, relations between the two men deteriorated significantly last June after Musk accused Trump of covering up his alleged ties to Jeffrey Epstein, and Trump threatened to cancel all of Musk’s government contracts.

In September, the two men exchanged a few words and shook hands at a solemn memorial service for Charlie Kirk, though Trump quickly downplayed the significance of the event.

Two months later, Trump was seen warmly patting Musk’s arm at a dinner honoring Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (whom US authorities accuse of personally ordering the brutal assassination of an American journalist in 2018).
